Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)

Established in 1920, The Royal Academy of Dance is an awarding body and leading international  dance education and training organisation, delivering world class examinations in Dance.

The Pre Primary and Primary Syllabi (for ages 5-8) focus on encouraging natural quality of movement and feeling, rather than form, developing students' physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and a range of sounds and musical styles, promoting self-confidence and social-emotional skills. 

Working through Grades 1-8, progressively develops technical, musical and performance skills incorporating Classical, Free Movement and Character styles.

The Vocational Grades (Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation, Advanced 1 & 2 and Solo Seal Award) introduce pointe work for females providing an in depth study of classical ballet, preparing students for a career in Dance whose examinations count towards GCSE, BTEC Dance and the new Creative and Media Diploma.
